The New Training Center

Deaf Missions is undergoing yet another renovation: The New Training Center for the upcoming International Bible Training Center program! Our expert carpenter, Jeff, still have a lot more to do. He has been working on the entrance into the training center.

This will be a classroom or war room (where Christians gather to diligently study the Scriptures and prepare to go into the world and make disciples (followers)! It's a place where men and women will be the Bible people read!

Yardenit

We made our last stop just south of the Sea of Galilee where the Jordan River continue its course from the Sea of Galilee toward the Dead Sea. The last stop was at the Yardenit where people gather to be baptized or witness baptisms. This would be a good place for a closure on your future Israel experience (if you have not buried your life in the Lord in baptism).

Jose and I witnessed several baptisms. But there are different types of baptisms. Sprinkling on the head, baptized three times in a row (in the name of the Father (1), and of the Son (2) and of the Holy Spirit (3), and on baptism in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.

There are many different beliefs how baptism is practiced. But the Bible shows several clear Scriptures that baptism is an immersion into the water (i.e. Acts 8 with the eunuch and Romans 6 with emphasis of the word, "buried").

It was the first time for Jose and I see this lady being baptized three times (Father, Son and Holy Spirit)

This is the Scripture I was talking about: "buried/burial" in Romans 6:4.

Israel Experience

The Israel experience was an experience we'll never forget. Of course, there are some disappointments but the experience overall was awesome! Jose and I will share our experience with you on video when we can. Our last stop was at the Yardenit and that is coming up!

Western Wall (Wailing Wall)

We decided to go to the Western Wall which is also called the Wailing Wall, in Hebrew, HaKotel HaMa'aravi. It is located on the eastern side of the Old City of Jerusalem at the foot of the western side of the Temple Mount. It is a remnant of the ancient wall that surrounded the Jewish Temple's courtyard and is one of the most sacred sites in Judaism. There's a story surrounding this wall from the mid 19th century to 1930 then again 1948 during the Arab-Israeli War. The Jews were barred from the site by the Jordanians for 19 years until Israel captured the Old City in 1967.

Before entering the Wailing Wall, there was heavy security stations just like the security systems you can find at the airport. Our bags had to be x-rayed and we had to go through the body check station.

The men were on one side while the women on the other. They must worship YHWH separately. In this picture are the women and children. The women's side is a smaller section of the wailing wall while the men's side is larger. The men's side also have a library and a place to stand before the wall indoor during inclement of weather.

This is the men's side of the Wailing Wall.

In Jerusalem

This was taken on March 7th, 2011. We were on top of the hotel overlooking all of Jerusalem from the east to the west, north to the south!!

As soon as I return to the U.S., I will be posting videos on this blog. So check back with us for more updates on our Israel trip!

Mount of Beatitudes

We went up to the Mount of Beatitudes. It is really a beautiful place to preach a sermon. Jesus preached the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5, 6 and 7. The Bible says that there were many in the crowds who came to hear the Word of God (Jesus)! Jose and I read, studied the Beatitudes and shared our thoughts on each of them. Combining a beautiful warm day and reading the Sermon on the Mount on the Mount that was actually delivered by Jesus, priceless!

The first blessings! As soon as we got to the second blessings, it was showing the third blessings. I think the builders made a mistake. Then the rest of the stones did not have the words on them. Darn! Nevertheless, we read it from the Bible and pretending to see the words etched on stone.

A cat came to us and was very, very friendly. She loved to be petted. We were thinking she might be from the family line of descendant (the cats that lived during Jesus' time). ;) Who knows! God does!

Then she decided to sleep on our books!

The Beatitudes written in latin. Can you guess what it says (no Bible allowed)?

This isn't the best picture (fence and all) but there's a drop from the top and it's a good place to preach down toward the crowd

Kursi (Gergesa)

We went to Kursi which is the location of Gergesa or Garasenes where Jesus did a miracle healing a man with many demons (Legion) in Mark 5:1; Luke 8:26. At first, we thought the water was directly beside the cliff. After visiting the place where Jesus did this miracle, it wasn't what we thought. Jesus arrived by boat. As soon as he got out of the boat, a man with an evil spirit came to Jesus immediately. Our first thought was, the pigs must be less than a 1/4 of a mile up the cliff. From the Sea of Galilee to the cliff we visited (pictured below) is about a 1/4 of a mile. The cliff was steep and wide, wide enough for 2,000+ pigs to rush down the steep bank then into the lake to drown.

This is the cliff that the pigs rushed down from

There was a place of worship (ruins) many years ago until the Persians came and destroyed it. In the place of worship was a small baptistry, an olive oil press and a crypt.

Mt Carmel

We passed Mt. Carmel then through Megiddo. There wasn't much to see except for winding roads through the mountains. This was the place where Elijah was killing all the false prophets in 1 Kings 18:16ff.. In Megiddo, it was the Valley of Armageddon according to Revelation 16:16. Here are a couple of pictures.

Mt Carmel... Most of the trees were burnt by forest fires. It was sad to see most of the trees burned down. But it is still a beautiful country up north near Haifa. As I read 1 Kings 18:16ff, I just didn't realize that the mountains would have so many trees and shrubs! Ever since I've been a Christian and reading the Bible, I've always thought everything was in the desert and dry! But not so. Mt Carmel is also near the Meditereanean Sea and about 35 minutes west of Capernaum.

There are many flowers like this everywhere!

Capernaum

Then next day, we went on to Capernaum where Peter lived. Jesus spent most of his life and ministry in that town as well. Capernaum is simply a historical site, no town, no stores, no hotels, nothing. Mount of Beatitudes is just north of Capernaum. The miracle of the swine (where Jesus casted Legion into the pigs) is just a couple miles southeast. Bethsaida is just east of Capernaum. Jesus' life and ministry was all over that region!

This was the Olive Oil press

The sign says that the 4th century synagogue was built on top of the old synagogue back during Jesus' days.

Jose and I studied all the Scriptures that took place in Capernaum

We did the Lord's supper in Capernaum

This was Peter's house below the church building. There is a glass floor where you can see Peter's house in aerial view (it's not really far down, though)

The Sea of Galilee (northern part) was directly behind Peter's house. Remember, he was a fisherman with his father, Zebedee and his brother, Andrew (Mark 1:16-20)
