The sign says that the 4th century synagogue was built on top of the old synagogue back during Jesus' days.

Jose and I studied all the Scriptures that took place in Capernaum

We did the Lord's supper in Capernaum

This was Peter's house below the church building. There is a glass floor where you can see Peter's house in aerial view (it's not really far down, though)

The Sea of Galilee (northern part) was directly behind Peter's house. Remember, he was a fisherman with his father, Zebedee and his brother, Andrew (Mark 1:16-20)
