Masada

We went to the mighty Masada yesterday! If you don't know the story about the Masada, I encourage you to google it and read about it. An amazing story with a sad ending. There is an old movie, "Masada" with Peter O'Toole. I remembered watching it during my young years, probably the late 70's/early 80's. Some scenes are still etched in my memory, even if it was filmed over 30 years ago! Wow!

Jose and I agreed that this was one of the best historical sites we've visited. Enjoy these pictures!

We decided to go "up" on the tram instead of "crawling" up the Snake Path toward the top!

This a model of what Masada looked like

Looking down toward the second level of Masada. The first level is in front of the second.

Lots - the real story was just before the Romans finally conquered the great Masada, the Jewish people decided to cast lots choosing who to kill first with a sword (including women and children) then narrowing down to the last two lots, one person kills the last one then draws the sword on himself.

This is the Snake Path leading up to the entrance. We decided to use the tram up and walked back down! It took us almost an hour to get down!! We were exhausted!!

The Masada!
